ORUWOCA's vision is to empower women to find their independent place in society. This vision was birthed through ORUWOCA's founder, Mrs. Mireille Gbetholancy-Kun from West Africa. She was born in Burkina Faso and raised in Niger. Mireille was inspired by the example of her parents who, in addition to raising their own eight children, opened their home to children whose families could not afford to provide them with education and other basic needs. These hardships of lack of education, training and basic health assistance still exist today. Mireille is known for her genuine love of others and her determination to help women and children overcome poverty. The ORUWOCA team shares her passion and her determination to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged women and children. All the team members have personal testimonies of their own efforts and triumphs in overcoming life's challenges and are committed to helping others.
